Day 27 - 1/13

Today we worked on finishing up some loose ends.  We had a lazy morning and stayed in our jammies for a while.  She ate congee for breakfast.  I taught her how to do a somersault with some assistance.  She wanted to put on makeup (eyeshadow and lip gloss).  She also needed her fingernails repainted.  Chris ran a few errands in town and picked up the pictures we had developed for her album to take back to the orphanage.  It was no small task to narrow down our selections to 48 shots.  Of course, she wanted to go for a ride in the car so she and I went to town to purchase a couple of things for her backpack.  We got a new hat and mittens because the ones she has been wearing we borrowed from Kinsley.  We also purchased some pretty note cards that she can give to her caretakers at the orphanage and stickers that she can share with her friends.  While we were out, she spotted the McDonalds and wanted to eat there for lunch.  She had chicken nuggets and french fries.  I thought she might want to play in the McDonalds Play Place, but she wanted nothing to do with it.

She took another 2 1/2 hours nap this afternoon.  Hopefully the extra rest will help with her long return trip.  When I woke her up, she was ready to eat again.  She had the last of the vanilla yogurt and also wanted a ham panini.  We played with the birthday party balloons and used the static electricity to make her hair stand up.  She thought it was hilarious.  We worked on packing the rest of her bag, and she was very definitive on what she wanted to take on the airplane and what she wanted to leave here.  I was a little surprised with some of her choices, but respected her decisions.  She has been very clingy and affectionate today.  I don't mind the extra snuggles.  While working on the backpack, she was a little fussy, but for the most part, she has been in good spirits.  For dinner, she wanted chicken nuggets.  We also gave her chinese noodles.  She practiced writing her numbers some more, and I can tell a definite improvement with her control of the pencil.

Nana and Smitty came over to play for awhile.  She was wound up and in a good mood.  I think she was excited that Bessie (our dog) was going home with Nana.  We played Go Fish and FaceTimed with the Gerdes clan.  She had fried rice for a snack.  She said her good-byes to Nana, Smitty, and Bessie, and we called it a night.
